Awning
The Aurora 16BHX has a 10 ft electric awning on the driver’s side. It is powered by the 12V system and operates with a switch — no manual cranking required.
Extending the awning
Section titled “Extending the awning”- Make sure the area outside the camper is clear of people, objects, and overhead obstructions.
- Locate the awning switch — it is typically on the exterior wall near the entry door or on the interior control panel.
- Press and hold the OUT (or extend) button. The awning will motor out automatically.
- Release the button when the awning is at the desired extension.
Retracting the awning
Section titled “Retracting the awning”- Press and hold the IN (or retract) button on the awning switch.
- The awning will motor back in and roll up against the camper.
- Hold until the awning is fully retracted and seated against the travel lock.
Wind and weather
Section titled “Wind and weather”- Retract the awning any time wind picks up — electric awnings are not rated for sustained wind.
- Do not leave the awning out unattended overnight unless conditions are completely calm.
- If caught in a sudden storm, retract immediately. Wet fabric is heavy and puts stress on the motor and mounting hardware.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- Awning won’t move: Check that the 12V system is on and the main disconnect switch is not off. Check the 12V fuse panel for a blown fuse on the awning circuit.
- Motor hums but awning doesn’t move: The travel lock may still be engaged — check for a manual locking strap or pin on the roller tube.
- Awning stops partway: The motor may have a thermal overload cutoff. Let it cool for a few minutes and try again.
Maintenance
Section titled “Maintenance”- After use in rain, extend the awning slightly at home and let it dry fully before rolling it up — storing wet fabric causes mildew.
- Inspect the fabric at the start of each season for tears, mold, or fraying at the edges.
- Lubricate the roller tube end caps and arm pivot points with a silicone spray once a season.
