Kitchen Appliances
The Aurora 16BHX kitchen includes a 3-burner propane range with oven, a microwave, and a 3-way refrigerator.
Stovetop
Section titled “Stovetop”The stovetop has 3 propane burners. Propane must be on and tanks must be open.
Lighting a burner
Section titled “Lighting a burner”- Push and turn the knob to LITE (or the lowest setting).
- Press the igniter button (or hold a lighter near the burner).
- Once lit, adjust to desired flame.
- If it doesn’t light in 5 seconds, turn off and wait 30 seconds before retrying.
Turning off
Section titled “Turning off”- Turn the knob fully to OFF.
- Verify the flame is out before leaving the kitchen.
The oven is propane-powered. Preheat takes about 10–15 minutes.
Lighting the oven
Section titled “Lighting the oven”- Turn the oven knob to the desired temperature.
- Push and hold the knob in (this opens the gas valve).
- While holding, press the igniter button until it lights.
- Continue holding the knob for 30 seconds after lighting — this heats the thermocouple safety valve.
- Slowly release the knob. If the flame goes out, repeat from step 1.
Oven tips
Section titled “Oven tips”- RV ovens run hot — check food 5–10 minutes early.
- Use a small oven thermometer for accuracy.
- The oven vents through the stovetop — keep the area clear.
Microwave
Section titled “Microwave”The microwave runs on 120V shore power. It will not work on battery alone.
- Standard operation — same as a home microwave.
- If it doesn’t work, check the breaker panel (microwave has its own breaker).
- The microwave is above the stovetop — don’t use both simultaneously on a 30-amp hookup if running A/C (can trip the main breaker).
Refrigerator (3-Way)
Section titled “Refrigerator (3-Way)”The Aurora 16BHX has a Dometic or Norcold 3-way refrigerator that can run on:
| Mode | Power source | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| AC | 120V shore power | Campground hookup |
| DC | 12V battery | Short trips / transit |
| LP | Propane | Dry camping |
Setting the mode
Section titled “Setting the mode”- Locate the control panel on the refrigerator (inside or on the front).
- Select the appropriate mode: AC, DC, or LP.
- Set the temperature dial (1–5 scale, 3–4 is typical).
Refrigerator tips
Section titled “Refrigerator tips”- Pre-cool before a trip — run the fridge on AC at home for 24 hours before loading food.
- The fridge works best when level — absorption fridges lose efficiency when tilted more than 3°.
- On LP mode, the fridge uses about 1 lb of propane per day.
- Don’t overfill — air needs to circulate inside.
- The fridge vents through the exterior — keep the vent cover clear of debris.
Cooling time
Section titled “Cooling time”A warm fridge takes 4–8 hours to reach proper temperature. Plan ahead.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Not cooling on AC | No shore power / tripped breaker | Check power |
| Not cooling on LP | No propane / tanks closed | Check propane |
| Not cooling on any mode | Not level | Level the camper |
| Frost buildup | Door seal issue or overfilled | Defrost, check seal |
