Bathroom

The Aurora 16BHX has a full bathroom with a toilet, shower, and sink.

The camper has a foot-flush RV toilet (Thetford or similar). It is not like a home toilet — it connects directly to the black water tank.

  1. Add a small amount of water to the bowl first — press the foot pedal halfway to add water only.
  2. Use the toilet normally.
  3. Press the foot pedal fully to flush — this opens the blade valve and flushes into the black tank.
  4. Add a bit more water to the bowl after flushing (keeps the blade valve seal moist).
  • Never leave the black tank valve open — see Sewer & Dump for why.
  • Add black tank treatment after every dump.
  • If the toilet smells, the black tank is likely full or the blade valve seal is dry — add water to the bowl.
  • The toilet requires water pressure (city water or pump on).

The shower is a wet bath or separate shower stall depending on configuration. The 16BHX typically has a separate shower.

  1. Make sure water is connected (city water or pump on).
  2. Turn on the water heater and wait 20–30 minutes for hot water.
  3. Turn on the shower — adjust hot/cold to desired temperature.
  4. Water drains to the gray tank.
  • Navy showers conserve water when dry camping: wet down, turn off, soap up, rinse.
  • The shower pan can be slippery — use a non-slip mat.
  • Squeegee or wipe down the walls after showering to prevent mildew.
  • Run the vent fan during and after showering to remove humidity.

  • Standard operation — hot and cold water from the same supply.
  • Drains to the gray tank.
  • The medicine cabinet / mirror is above the sink.

  • Use the roof vent fan (if in the bathroom) or crack a window to remove humidity.
  • Humidity buildup causes mildew on walls and ceiling — wipe down after use.
  • Leave the bathroom door open when not in use to allow airflow.
